Off to the Detroit show tomorrow with some Canadian college kids. What are some good spots for food in the area?

Last time I went to Detroit my boss took us to a place along the river in Windsor. I wish I could remember what it was called because the food was excellent and we had a nice view of downtown Detroit.

Edit: might have been this -

Was gonna say slows too. There’s always mexican town or hop cat brewery. Also greek town its closer to cobo and you can take the stupid people mover to it.

Slows is choice, or if you are feeling pizza, I adore Supino Pizzeria near Eastern Market.

What kind of food are you looking for? The Detroit restaurant scene has exploded in the last 2-3 years, there is a ton of choice now. Some of my favorites are: Slow’s BBQ, Bobcat Bonnie’s, and Green Dot Stables in Corktown; La Feria, Pho Lucky, Hop Cat, and Bronx in Midtown. I don’t hang out downtown much but there is a bunch of good stuff there too.

Edit: Bucharest Grill is downtown and has awesome shawarma.

Yup. A firm wants fresh hires.

That’s a pretty nice treat for them. I’ll be going tomorrow as well, but I have stuff to benchmark

Yeah, it’s something I’m really looking forward to, especially since the auto show was one of the many things I wanted to experience as a kid.

Probably whatever seems closer, since one of us is wearing heels to the show...

Anywhere near the Cobo would be fine for us pretty much, unless if we really want to feel adventurous. One of us is familiar with the Coney Island Hot Dog stand though, so we’ll see what happens.

That seems like a pretty swell location. We’re just crossing the border from Windsor so I feel we’re likely to keep in Detroit for the evening.

Will definitely see if Slow’s is an option, since it was the most suggested location here.

It should be great with the lack of huge crowds

Can’t go wrong with a good coney. Just make sure you do onions and mustard along with the chili. That’s the way the universe intended coneys to be.

I dunno if there’s anything within walking distance of Cobo, but you can take the People Mover to... uh, Greektown, I guess. There are some OK restaurants there, but from what I’ve heard the last family-owned Greek restaurant was bought out a few years ago and it’s all corporate now. The food is still decent but it’s not as good as it used to be.

Pizza Papalis does a decent pie, and you can get there via the People Mover and a short walk but IMO I’d rather go to Supino in Eastern Market.
